The Church is located right in the center of the Central Square and was built between the years 1851 and 1856, commissioned by Pius IX to Gaetano Morichini who built it in neoclassical style and divided it into three naves.
Right on the main section it is possible to notice a large oil fresco painted by Casimiro Brugnone "The vision of St. Pius V", in which Pius IX is depicted receiving from the Archangel Michael the victory of the Christian fleet over the Turkish one in 1541.

Parish of San Francesco
The current town of Lavinio Lido was formed after the Second World War (1939-1945); first huts and rudimentary houses began to be built to accommodate the displaced people and the miners of Tor Caldara, then the area was parceled out and the first villas were built, as a second summer home, to enjoy the greenery of the area and the healthiness of the sea; the people came from different Italian regions and especially from Rome.
Even the area further inland from the sea began to be populated with workers, with families who came to these places because they found work in Colgate-Palmolive or Massey Ferguson or in the surrounding areas.
The history of the Parish of S. Francesco starts from here. The P. Vincenzo Vendetti, dynamic and diligent parish priest of the Mother Church of Saints Pio and Anthony in Anzio Centro, with the aim of ensuring spiritual assistance to this area which, over the years, was becoming more and more populated, had the brilliant intuition of construction of the parish of s. Francis.
